CAREONE in Livingston: Volunteers (14 yrs and up) for one to one visits with residents, outdoor walks, wheelchair transportation to activities, help with serving food and refreshments, arts and crafts. Some opportunities volunteers may consider are:

NCJW/Essex seeks help for their Caring Calls program, which provides volunteers to check in on a homebound senior. Training is provided. Volunteers must be NCJW members to participate.

A Union nonprofit organization specializing in educating the public and health care professionals about Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), a common genetic disorder, is looking for volunteers to help with office work, special events, public relations and local support group events. Computer knowledge will be helpful.

An Orange nonprofit agency working with individuals with cerebral palsy needs volunteers for its new Brush with Greatness program that introduces their adult day students with art history and art projects. Help is needed to plan lessons and assist participants as they create their own artwork 9:30 AM – 11 AM on the second Wednesday of the month in Irvington, the third Wednesday of the month in Wayne, and the fourth Wednesday of the month in Orange.

Volunteers are needed at a Hillside food bank to help sort, repack, and label salvage food products for distribution to member charities.

A South Orange social service agency providing innovative programs for the elderly seeks volunteers for its University Without Walls Program, which gives seniors at home access to “live” classes using their telephones.

A Verona agency that promotes the prevention and treatment of, and recovery from, alcoholism and drug addiction is looking for teen volunteers to help educate others on the dangers of tobacco and alcohol. Volunteer to help plan and participate in fun and exciting activities.
