Director of Senior, Youth and Leisure Services: Jennifer Hessberger

IMG_20121109_201943Jennifer joined the Township of Livingston in September of 2009. Originally from Cortland, NY, she and her family moved to Westfield, NJ in 2004, where she held the position of Senior Director of the Westfield Area Y for almost six years. While at the YMCA, her responsibilities included both the administration and operations of the Aquatics, Health & Wellness,  Active Older Adults and Sports & Recreation departments and facilities.   In addition she sat on several committees, including finance, programming, and fundraising.  In her current position as Director of Senior, Youth & Leisure Services for the Township of Livingston, her department oversees all Community programming for the Township, including operations of both aquatic facilities.   Jennifer holds a B.S. in Physical Education from State University of New York at Cortland and resides in West Caldwell, NJ with her husband, Eric and their 3 children, Elizabeth, Emily and Zachary.

Program Supervisors

Senior and Adult Enrichment: Liliana Branquinho

Liliana joined the Township of Livingston on May 3rd, 2011 as the Program Supervisor for Senior & Adult Enrichment and Special Events.  She was born in Lisbon, Portugal and moved to the U.S. with her family in 1990.  Prior to joining the Township of Livingston, Liliana held a position as Associate Director for Member Services, Facilities and Risk Management at the Westfield Area Y where she oversaw the day to day operations for Member Services, Facilities, Special Events, Volunteers and International programs.  Furthermore, she was involved in the annual fundraising process and sat on several committees such as Membership, Buildings and Grounds, Insurance/Risk Management and International.  Currently, Liliana oversees all senior and adult programming and township special events.  In her spare time, Liliana enjoys volunteering for different organizations as well as local animal shelters.  Liliana holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Springfield College, Massachusetts and currently resides in Westfield with her dog Nala.

Athletic and Aquatic: Kenneth A. Lomax

Kenneth A. Lomax, Athletics and Aquatics Supervisor, grew up in Livingston and graduated from Livingston High School.  He began his employment with the Livingston Department of Recreation and Parks while in high school as a part time maintenance man, facilities attendant, recreation leader, sports official, lifeguard, swim instructor, Swim Program Coordinator, and Pool Manager. Following a four year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, he attended The Pennsylvania State University with a major in Recreation and Parks Administration.  Ken also worked for two years with the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission as a part time Recreation Center Director.  Ken and his wife Robyn have three adult children. He graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration – Management.  Ken was extremely happy to return to the Livingston Recreation and Parks Department in 2001 as the full time Recreation Supervisor responsible for all department sports activities in the community.

Camp, Youth, & Teen Programs: Tim Roetman, RA

Tim Roetman

Tim joined the Township of Livingston in January 2010 after beginning his professional career as the Assistant Recreation Director in Tenafly, NJ in 2005.   Tim currently plans and supervises Livingston’s preschool programs, dance programs, summer camps, and youth events.  In his spare time, he is actively involved with the New Jersey Recreation and Park Association, volunteering as the IT Committee Chairman, a member of the Conference Planning Committee and serving on the NJRPA Board of Trustees (2007-2009).  He was recently elected to serve as Secretary to the NJRPA Executive Board for the 2011-2012 term.   Tim enjoys hiking, traveling, snorkeling and riding motorcycles.  He is a graduate of Montclair State University and currently resides in Bergen County.

Community Services: Susan Ridley, Ph.D., CPS, CPRP, ADC, REAT

Susan loves education! As you can see from the alphabet soup after her name. She has a Ph.D. in Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University, MA,  is a Certified Prevention Specialist, a Certified Psychiatric Practitioner, Activities Director Certified, and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist. In her spare time, she is an artist, specializing in landscapes, seascapes, animals and murals (the bigger the better) as well as learning the art of Raku pottery. Susan lives in Lake Mohawk, Sparta, NJ. Susan supervises the Livingston Youth and Community Services (LYCS) program which provides leadership, healthy life choices and life skills education to students grades 1-12 in Livingston school district, and collaborates with other community organizations in providing parent education workshops, community service opportunities, and community programming.

Adaptive Recreation Coordinator: Mark Silance

Graduated from Concord College with his degree in Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in Health and Physical Education. After college he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Recreation Specialist attaining the grade of E-5 in 4 years.  Became a Program Leader, Assistant Recreation Director, and Recreation Director for towns in Union County. From 1986 to 2009 was a Classroom/Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for private schools that serve students with disabilities. He is a certified Health and Physical Education Teacher in the State of New Jersey. He also holds a Certificate of Eligibility as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities in the state.
