Shining Star Sports League – A League for Exceptional Children! The Shining Star Sports League is a wonderful developmental opportunity for your special needs child. League activities focus on gross motor skills, fundamentals of each sport and socialization. Children will enjoy both clinic style instruction and competitive games in each season. The league uses modified equipment, game play and rules to enhance the learning and play experience. Each season is a new sport: Fall – Soccer , Winter – Basketball, Spring – T/Ball, Baseball. Adaptive Recreation “Shadow” Program: The Adaptive Recreation Program provides trained volunteers to “shadow” Livingston children during most recreation programs. The shadows work with the specific needs of the child to help him or her participate more comfortably within the parameters of the program. To receive information regarding a shadow for your child, please mark the space on the registration form and you will be contacted by the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator. This program is made possible by a grant from the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
Shadow Training Sessions: Next scheduled sessions will be held in June at the Senior Community Center, 1st floor, 204 Hillside Avenue. Only 1 session need be attended. Persons who have not shadowed are urged to attend. For further information call Mark Silance at 973-535-7925 ext.267.
“INCLUDE ME” MENTOR PROGRAM: A mentor program that includes ALL children to help them reach their goals and have fun. For further information contact Pam Tepper at 973-994-1130 or ptepper@verizon.net.
After School Sports Program - For Children with Special Needs: A fun, relaxed after school sports and games program for children with special needs. No pre-registration required and non-residents are welcome. For more information call Lauren Glassman at 973-535-7961.
Livingston Advisory Committee on Disabilities: Under the supervision of the Livingston Department of Health, Welfare and Human Services, the Committee on Disabilities serves both as an advisory board concerned with issues within the Township relating to persons with disabilities and ADA compliance and also provides periodic activities to the disabled community in town.
